spring is here

The kitchen floor felt dirty under my feet
Standing at the sink waiting for the toast to pop.
I put down my coffee and went to the hall closet for the dustpan.
I crouched down on the floor to sweep.
There, along with some crumbs
Were two tiny black metal springs.
I live alone.
No one else has been here for days.
For the life of me
I could not imagine
Where they came from
These springs.
But then I couldn't help but wonder
If they weren't from me somehow;
Literally.
Any way you look at it
It's evidence
That I'm losing it.

this made me laugh. and coincidentally, i too found two black springs on my floor, in my bathroom tho. but i finally figured out they were from the hinges on one of the cupboard doors. it took a while, but all is well now.

T...i remember being the detective's helper in trying to figure out where in hell those things came from.

R...as we move through, the Machinery starts to break down; rebel; regurgitate; cannibalize itself even. We are all losing something. Springs, cogs, minds, time.
